It was in September 2013 that the current venture was spun out from its parent business. Retaining the name Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), the parent company of the business has changed its name to Leidos. The unit is now a multi-billion venture that generates more than $4.1 billion in revenue with more than 13,000 employees around the world. The business is registered as a scientific, technological and engineering applications company. Its offerings are most useful to businesses that thrive in the industries of critical infrastructure, health, national security and the energy and environment sectors. It supports complex government, large and commercial projects. Other than serving the global markets, the business offers its assistance to the federal government and to state and local management.
The major clients of the company include the United States Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, the intelligence community, commercial markets and civil agencies. The operations of SAIC are classified into two major segments: commercial and government unit.
