John R. Adler III, better known as Trip Adler, grew up in Palo Alto, California. He was a Biophysics major at Harvard University when he first thought of that concept. He wanted his academic papers published online and was looking for an easy way to do so. Like many other tech entrepreneurs, he got the idea for his startup while still in school, but unlike most of them, he waited until he graduated in 2006 to get to work on his startup. In 2007, he launched Scribd and the site now hosts millions of documents that are read and shared by its millions of readers every day. Adler’s success has brought praise upon him and his company. In 2010, Adler was named one of the Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs by Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
Getting written works published online isn’t easy. You can either find a website that would publish your work or get your own website and publish it yourself. A young college student thought of an easier way to do it, and now his company, Scribd, has revolutionized the online publishing industry.
