CakeHealth was founded by Rebecca Woodcock. Once, she became a victim of healthcare payment system inefficiencies. She had a friend who suffered from epilepsy. Woodcock was overwhelmed with how her friends high deductible insurance plan were exhausted by multiple visits to the hospital and a number of treatments from seizure attacks. Keeping track of healthcare services availed and the related costs had been difficult.
It took Woodcock months to document all the treatment before her friend’s neurologist figured out the type of epilepsy her friend is suffering from and changed the treatment. These inconveniences led to the founding of CakeHealth in 2010.
The name CakeHealth was inspired by the phrase “piece of cake” which is a metaphor for ease of use and simplicity. CakeHealth’s vision is to provide intuitive and easier way to manage healthcare spending. Managing healthcare expenditures should not be intimidating with CakeHealth’s solution.
