In December 2000, Chris Baggott, Peter McCormick, and Scott Dorsey, founded a company they called ExactTarget using $200,000 as an initial investment. The business of the company was to provide a digital marketing software that would easily accomplish marketing tasks such as sending emails to millions of customers.
The company bagged their first high-profile customer in 2003, when CareerBuilder.com selected to use the ExactTarget software for their internet marketing campaign. The software worked perfectly as it was sending millions of emails a month to CareerBuilder subscribers.
Since then, the company’s own marketing efforts grew. By 2005, the company already had around 3,250 customers and the business community was noticing their growth. 4 years later, the company was already posting annual revenues of over $130 million.
