Allen Organ Company’s stock was made public in 1961. After a few years since its establishment, Markowitz became inspired to build a better electronic organ, influenced by the Hammond organ. Over the following years, he built a nuber of home and church organs, until in 1971, the company was able to successfully introduce the world’s first consumer-product digital musical instrument.
In 2004, the company was recognized by the Smithsonian Institution for their technology’s significance. To show this recognition, the institution acquired the first Allen digital organ to add to its collection.
Allen organs come from either of the company’s two lines: the Quantum line and the Heritage line.
