Louis Mariette founded his namesake company in 2007. Born in Malawi, Mariette was raised in Botswana and Swaziland, where he took his natural environment as a playground. Mariette's explorations of the African wild, combined with his trips to the glamorous urban center of London, served as the milliner's inspiration for his exotic and sensational hats. Mariette taught himself the ins and outs of the millinery industry, his hard work and unique designs gaining recognition early on. Mariette had his first show in Milan in 2002, and was soon commissioned by department store Harrods to create something for their hat department. The result was the stunning “Chapeau d'Amour”, a 1.5 million-pound hat made of platinum fabric and studded with diamonds, known to this day as the most expensive hat ever made.
As a milliner, Louis Mariette specializes in bespoke and specialized hats. Recently, the company has grown to include a ready-to-wear collection of hats, bridal and hair accessories. Stocked by Harvey Nichols, Tsum, Henri Bedel, Browns, Harrods, Swarovski, Links, Boucheron, the Platinum Guild and other prestigious companies, Louis Mariette is a name highly in demand for high society events, fashion shoots, public exhibits and activities. Louis Mariette has been awarded by the Tanzanite Foundation and holds the philanthropic position of Vice-President of The Children's Trust.
