Born on June 23, 1964 as Stephen Bradley Saad, he is a South African entrepreneur who is best known for settling the financial obligations of Aspen Pharmacare where he currently sits as the Chief Executive Officer. He made a difference in the company the moment he stepped in as part of the business by settling even the billions that the company owed to financial institutions and to its investors.
Saad was born and grew up in Durban, South Africa. He finished his secondary education at the Durban High School in Durban and eventually joined the University of Natal where he earned his Bachelor of Commerce. Ever since he dreamt of becoming an accountant and furthered his learning to become a chartered accountant. He also actively played rugby in Ireland as his extra-curricular activity. It was at the age of 29 that he became a millionaire by selling his shares in Covan Zurich for $3 million. Prior to that, he started his career by joining a prescription drug distribution company called Quickmed. The company was located in black townships during the time of racial segregation in South Africa.
Together with Gus Attridge, they founded Aspen Pharmacare which eventually became a publicly traded business on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. They were able to successfully grow the business until it has become the largest producer of generic medicines on the African continent. It was in 2011 that he became part of the 40 richest people in Africa being valued at $640 million. By 2013, his portfolio has doubled and his net worth skyrocketed to $1.4 billion.
