Darrah and Nazarian’s business partnership began soon after the wedding as they bonded over their love of fashion and desire to start their own labels. Both of them notoriously loved bags and shoes, and each had ambitions use that passion to start their own product line. Breaking into the fashion industry is not an easy feat though; Darrah and Nazarian realized that in order to land on the shelves of fashion emporiums and trendy boutiques, they needed to commit to a specific goal.
They called their goal Treesje, which is actually the middle name of the bride whose wedding they attended. Treesje – pronounced “tray-jhuh" – is a handbag line designed by the partners themselves. What's even more amazing is that neither of them had formal fashion or design training. Darrah and Nazarian learned to conceptualize from beginning to end, including how to flat-sketch, source fine Italian leathers and Italian hardware, and come up with a great design concept that looked even better as a finished product. Aside from bags, they are also planning to expand into sunglasses, cosmetics, clothing and other aspects.
From bridesmaids to business partners, Darrah and Nazarian have learned the ropes of the business and have established a good breed of customers. Getting celebrities to use their bags is not exactly easy, given the competition in the world of fashion; but for the short period that they have been in business, these two women have conquered every challenge.
