Byrne’s first program, WeatherizeDC, envisioned a green city that boasted of prosperous and efficient homes, local green careers for individuals who need them the most, and clean air. The project utilized data-driven, community-based methods to conquer barriers, speed up investments on weatherization, and create careers in the field of energy efficiency. The program quickly became an industry-leading model in the economy of clean energy.
Byrne has led The DC Project from a small, committed and passionate group of social innovators working from their homes to a national force in the green job movement. He aims to create sustainable systems and empowerment programs that will ensure long-lasting change on the local and global levels.
